Iranian short film ‘Slaughter’ has been selected to vie at the 12th edition of the Kustendorf Film and Music Festival in Serbia.

The short flick, co-directed by Ako ZandKarimi and Saman Hosseinpour, will be in competition with 20 other short works that will attend the film event from countries like Canada, France, Germany, Switzerland and Macedonia.

‘Slaughter’ camera lenses are set to show the audiences a simple village family that owns only one cow. The cow, however, must be sold to help the family live through a rough winter.

The family son saddened by this decision will let the cow go to prevent its doomed destiny.

The film had its first international presence and award at 2018 Early Bird International Student Film Festival in Bulgaria.

Since then, the short has attended some other national and international events such as the 17th edition of Third Eye Asian Film Festival in India.

The Kustendorf Film and Music Festival was founded in 2008 with the idea to bring together the icons of contemporary cinema and the young and emerging talents in filmmaking.

Great cineastes like Asghar Farhadi, late Abbas Kiarostami and Leila Hatami from Iran have so far attended the festival.

The latest edition of the film event is slated for January 11-16, 2019.
